I know we are still in December of 2011 and haven't even finished the Advent Season or opened the presents, but let's think for a minute about 2012. I haven't posted on this site for a very long time. I will put up the 2012 calendar in the next few days and begin our thoughts about the upcoming year.
The work of the dedicate women of UMW is important in the life of the church, both here and in the larger world. Know that your work is valuable and that you are a cherished member of the community.

SPIRITUAL GROWTH RETREAT
Next weekend we have the opportunity of attending one of two identical Spiritual Growth Retreats. I hope all of you who wanted to attend were able to make reservations to do so.
At that same retreat, we will have an opportunity to deliver the Haiti Health Kits from our local churches. They will be transported to Illinois from there.
Any of you who need to have your kits delivered, contact one of the district officers who will be attending the retreat and they will be happy to take them. I will be going. You can contact me at dorisrapp@comcast.net for the name and number of an officer in your area to whom you can deliver your kits for transport.
Blessings,
Doris Rapp
District President

Haiti Health Kits
We are all praying for the people of Haiti and those volunteers who have gone to help them. At this time, the United Methodist Church is collecting health kits for the people of Haiti. There are several ways to get them to the mission warehouse. One is to give them to a member of the Northeast District UMW Executive team who will get them to the proper place. Also, you can take them to Sonrise United Methodist Church in Fort Wayne.
Any of these supplies can be used or completed kits:
Health Kits - Suggested Shipping Donation $1.00
1 Hand Towel (not finger-tip or kitchen size)
1 Wash Cloth
1 Comb (regular size, not pocket size, no rat-tail combs, no barber combs; Suggestion-Little Goody 2 Pack)
1 Fingernail Clipper or File (no emery boards)
1 Bar of Soap (3 oz. or larger in original wrapper)
1 Toothbrush (in original wrapper) (no multiple packs)
1 Tube of Toothpaste (3.5 oz or larger, in original wrapper. Check expiration dates-must be at least ONE YEAR ahead.)
6 Adhesive Bandages (*Band-aids; no pictures or colors, regular size and wrapped in a rubber band)
Anne will take the supplies to MMDC for packing. Monetary contributions could be made directly to MMDC or $1 in completed kits. Whatever people want to do would be helpful at this point. I noticed that MMDC is in need of Health Kit Supplies as of December.

RETHINK UMW - WELCOME!
Welcome to the North East Indiana District United Methodist Women's blog. It is my hope that we can find a new way to "Re-think" UMW meetings. I know that most woman are very busy and find it impossible to attend local UMW events. On this blog I will post brief snippets of information to help keep you posted on the happenings and needs of women and children around the world. I pray that these monthly posts will help you stay informed and will encourage you to be aware of the missions of UMW, if only for the brief minutes it takes to read these mini-meeting-minutes.
May rich blessings fall upon you, run over, and splash on all those around you.
I will begin posting in a few months.
